I’d like to begin by offering my thanks for the very warm welcome that I have from students, teachers and parents alike. It is a privilege to have the opportunity to work in a school with such a long and proud tradition of education.
As we begin the new school year, I’d like to say welcome to our first year students and welcome back to all of our students and to the staff. Congratulations to all involved on the results achieved in the Junior and Leaving Certificate examinations.
This term we are going to focus on ‘being prepared to learn’ and on ‘care for our environment’. Both of these areas reflect elements of the ERST charter. I am asking all of our students to make a special effort in both of these areas.
As we get back into the routine of the school day, it’s great to see so much activity around the school with football, hurling, basketball, volleyball and golf teams out on the pitches.
Our after school study and additional classes are now up and running with a programme that offers a variety of subjects from applied maths to rock music. Our thanks go to the Tomar Trust for their support in this area.
My hope for this year is that all students and teachers have a happy, safe and productive year and that as many parents as possible are actively involved in the school.
