Transition Years are currently taking part in a Rugby coaching course called Leprechaun Rugby. click here for: Leprechaun Rugby website
Leprechaun Rugby
Leprechaun Rugby is a fast and exciting modified-contact game of 'touch' rugby designed to assist general physical development, to play an important role in 'games concepts' programmes and to introduce the game of Rugby Union to children in a very simplified form and is the formal introductory game to Mini Rugby.
Leprechaun Rugby aims to encourage the positive development of running and handling skills. Handling skills can be developed along with similar skills in sports such as netball and basketball but the new concept is that of only passing backwards, as in traditional Rugby.
Congratulations to our first year team who received a vote of highly commended by the judges in the Young Scientists competition in Dublin.
This Year CBS has two groups and an individual going to Dublin to represent our school in The BT Young Scientist competition. Conor Murphy in TY has a project in Social and Behavioural Sciences. The title of his project is "An Investigation to discover whether young people participate in prayer and the benefits they receive."
There are a further two projects from two first year groups. One is on "Virtual Tourism" by Adam Daniels and Darragh Bennis and Patrick Sheridan while the other one is on "What is your humour" and this project was done by Micky Rynne and Aaron Mc Gannon. We wish them the very best of luck as they make their way to Dublin for this wonderful opportunity with their teachers Mr. Murphy and Ms. Healy.
