Congratulations to all the students who got through to the finals of the BT Young Scientist Competition which will be held in the RDS, Dublin in January. 400 projects were selected from 1 735 entries nationwide and 4 of these were from Ennistymon CBS. The 4 projects selected were:
- 1. Daniel Beggan, Ryan Doyle - An infra-red pen which is tracked by IR camera through a plastic sheet and is used in place of a laptop touchpad or mouse
- 2. Calem Roelofs, Kieran Killeen - This is a project to test to see if different genres of music affect heart rate.
- 3. Michael McInerney, Jack Hayes - An investigation into whether the frequency of sound affects how its volume travels through different materials and if certain frequencies are absorbed by certain materials.
- 4. Derek McInerney, Conor O Loughlin, Eoin Leyden - an investigation to show that a hurley with its bas coated in fibreglass will last longer, give you more distance and accuracy in your shots and give you more control than a conventional hurley.
We would like to congratulate them on the fantastic achievement of getting to the finals and wish them all the very best of luck in January
