Ploughing Trip by Darragh Cuddihy
We started our day by meeting at the grotto at 7am. We met little traffic on the way so were there quicker than we had thought. Parking took a little time though but it was the first day. We were given our tickets and headed in the gates. We split up into groups and went to explore the huge site. There was a lot to see such as the sheepdog trials, stalls, livestock and of course the ploughing itself. There’s usually lots of freebies but not so much this year. We met back around 3.30pm at the bus and stopped for food on the way home. All in all I’d give the day and experience 8 out of 10. I’d deduct 2 points owing to lack of freebies and we didn’t get into some of the machinery. The majority of points are for the livestock- there was plenty of variety and it was very interesting.
