This is a week that has the intention of showing our students the potential that is created by involvement with the arts. All students can engage with a workshop or event during the week.
We began the week with a photography workshop with Mr. Kerin. The students were shown how to get the most out of their camera phones and then travelled to the Burren for inspiration. These photos were then displayed during the Gallery Experience on Friday. Also on Monday, there was all-day Martial Events with Alan George. Three year-groups enjoyed two-hour workshops in the Teach Ceoil.
Tuesday began with a music technology workshop with CreateSchool. This is a great experiential learning experience where the boys learned to create and edit music on the Bandlab app. Our junior classes had dance sessions with Liz Shannon of Broadway Dance. Our senior students had the opportunity to attend a carpentry workshop.
Wednesday saw a trip to St. Tola’s Goat Farm for a Farm to Fork experience. Thursday was an exciting day, as we travelled to Dublin to the Bord Gais Energy Theatre to attend a matinee performance of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. This was a wonderful production and a fantastic opportunity for our students. Thursday also saw a Mental Health Poetry Slam for our 5th years, which was recorded as being a wonderful experience.
The week culminated on Friday with a Gallery Experience and Open Mic Session. Leaving Cert art was displayed, inspired by their English course. Music was provided by our student’s; food was presented by the CBS Kitchen and an ice-cream van finished the day with a bang.
Thank you to everyone involved, especially our Creative Arts Team.
