To ensure maximum performances both inside and outside of school Grainne Travers, nutritionist, gave a talk to the parents of the CBS recently.
Grainne reminded parents how the growth spurts can lead to an increase in the demand for calories.
Eating three healthy meals and two healthy snacks per day was highlighted by Grainne as a guideline to a healthy diet. The image of eating the rainbow was a visual demonstrated to remind us of the variety of fruit and vegetables we ought to consume.
Grainne also reminded parents how social media and worries can impact sleep patterns, while emphasising that teenagers need 8 to 10 hours sleep per night.
Grainne advised planning carefully before writing the shopping list to guarantee the cupboard is not bare when the question is asked ‘What can I eat?’
