We did two activities which I found to be great fun while still being interesting. These activities were to help us with our teamwork and leadership skills.
Firstly, we played a board game called 'The Lost Dutchman's Goldmine'. Long story short, it's sort of like a monopoly board except you have 20 days to make moves and the aim of the game is to get as much gold as possible. You work together in teams of three or four. There are alternative routes to take on the board, and you must all work together not only in your team groups but also as a whole class. Our half of the class lost this challenge (by quite a bit!), however we learned lots about teamwork and leadership.
Secondly, we were given the task of constructing a KNEX tower. We were given an image of the tower and a sheet with a piece of the tower on it. We got different sheets and had to share them and co-operate to make sure that we all built the same thing. We had to complete the design in under 60 minutes and once I was done I helped others to finish theirs. This activity was in my opinion more fun than the first one, however it had less to do with teamwork and leadership. It made me feel like a child again as when I was around seven years old I loved to play with KNEX and Lego. We were all done in 54 minutes, however the other class were all done in 53 minutes! Clearly it was not our day.
All in all, it was a great day and we had fun.
