50 Years Climbing the Hill...

Retirement after almost 50 years “climbing the Hill to the Monastery”

Gerry Sexton started his secondary education in Meánscoil na mBráithre Ennistymon in 1971.He travelled up from Miltown Malbay to attend the school where Irish was the language of instruction at the time. He returned as a teacher in 1982 teaching German, Irish, Religion and in later years English. He was involved in the introduction of Transition Year to the CBS from the start and later worked for many years in the role of TY Coordinator.

He has spent the last 36 years working tirelessly for the students of the CBS. He lived the Christian Brothers ethos in the school during this time organising School Masses, the Concern fast, retreats and marking the celebration of the Liturgical Year.

He organised School Plays, soccer competitions at lunchtime and countless TY trips and tours over the years. He has also been the MC for many events in the school over the years.

Gerry leaves, thankfully in good health and with lots of energy and will hopefully have many years of good health to enjoy his retirement. “Ní bheidh a leithéad ann arís”
