Arts & Culture Week @ the CBS April 8th -12th

The week of April 8th will see CBS Ennistymon host our first ever Culture and Arts Week, celebrating and showcasing the wide range and variety of creativity in the school.

We are extremely grateful to The Tomar Trust Foundation and Clare Arts Office for funding which has enabled the CBS to offer our students a wide variety of opportunities.

All second year students will be travelling to the Bord Gais Theatre in Dublin to see a live production of War Horse.

All year groups will be offered to participate in workshops such as, an acting workshop with Jacinta Sheerin; who has appeared in RTÉ shows Fair City and Red Rock.

Other Activities will include Createschool who will be offering a songschool (including recording, performing and music technology) and a podcast workshop. Local artist Sara Foust will be doing an art workshop and in house SNA and artist Steve Mathieson will be offering a ceramics workshop where students will get an opportunity to make their own creative pieces.

An exhibition entitled “Discover Lifelines, letters from famous people about their favourite poems” from the National Library of Ireland will be on display in the local Ennistymon library for the week. The library will also host our official launch on Monday April 8th.

Talented teachers Ms. Kennedy and Mr. Murphy will also be sharing their love of music and dance throughout the week and Ennistymon locals can expect to enjoy some traditional music around the town to celebrate the arts. Counsellor and chef Neville will also help students to explore different cultures through food.

We are also compiling a booklet of some of the students’ creative pieces including poetry, prose, artwork and photographs. This booklet will be available locally.

We are very excited for our first ever Culture and Arts Week and hope it will be the first of many!
