Darragh Brings Home Bronze

Darragh along with his other Irish team mates clinched the Bronze medal in Scotland at the Combined Events International Athletics Competition at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow on November 10th.

Darragh was selected to compete on the Irish Schools Team after scoring in excess of 3000 points in the Nationals competing in the 60m hurdle, shot putt, long jump, 200m sprint and 1000m run.

The Schools International Multi Event Competition is a gruelling event featuring top athletes from England, Scotland. Wales and Ireland. Darragh put in an exceptional performance winning the shot putt and running a superb 200m sprint.  He followed on with an excellent 60m Hurdle coming in second place, before posting an impressive long jump of 6.15m.  Unfortunately Darragh suffered a groin strain in the long jump and was unable to compete in the final event. This was a tremendous blow to Darragh and the team who were at that stage in contention for the gold podium spot.  However following a few days rest Darragh is now fighting fit again.
