CBS Ennistymon under 19 basketball team are on a winning strike having beaten Glanmire on their home court before the mid term break. On Friday last our under 19 basketball team had a wonderful day of the court against a very strong opposition Athenry and came out of top with a large margin at the final whistle. Each and every player had a part to play and the cooperation courage skill and determination was visible on and off the court. Even when a key player Liam Cosgrove went over on his ankle after scoring 4 baskets and rebounding numerous balls, the players worked together to get a win. They were dealt another blow when Conor Dillon had to leave the court who was causing chaos for the other team and went to the free throw line and scored over 12 points. Calum Burke and Conor Dillon had many steals and turned the ball over which lead to more scores on the board for cbs.
While James Leigh who was selected on the u17 Regional West team, displayed his skills as to why he was chosen, by scoring 28 points, three 3 pointers, and some from the free throw line.
Ross Clair had a Magnificant game, numerous rebounds, scoring 20 points and strong on defence. Calum Burke and corran breathnach added more points to the score sheet. Ronan O'Connell, Keenan Sexton and Darragh Cudihy played an important part taking down rebounds and moving the ball up the court quick to add to the score board. Some of the under 16 team, James Clair, Cathal O'Brien, Cillian Devitt, Gavin Cosgrove and Shane Vaughan, played a vital role in the game and the success of the team. The final score was 70 - 47, the victory to CBS Ennistymon. All delighted with yet another victory in this league game. The next league game will be played in NUIG on Wednesday 18th November.
